3 Myths About Watercolour Painting DEBUNKED!

3 Myths About Watercolour Painting DEBUNKED!

I’ve often heard (and used to believe) some myths about watercolour painting. Here are some I would like to share which I’ve learnt over time that are NOT TRUE.

Myth 1: Watercolour is a difficult medium that is hard to control

Fact: Watercolour painting is about finding the right balance – as with life! It’s about discovering the right ratio of water and paint!

Myth 2: Watercolour is an ‘Unforgiving medium’

Fact: Watercolour paint can be ‘reactivated’ with water even after it dries! You can reuse your dried paint palette, so don’t throw or wash your dried paint away!

There is also avenue for corrections to be made, such as by diluting the paint or by painting over with a stronger pigment!

Myth 3: I need black and which paint to paint things that are black and white!

Fact: You don’t need to! With the right colour mix, you can paint black and white objects – with even greater depth and detail!
